Porter’s Gin is really in Vogue

The first gin produced in Aberdeen for 100 years has been given the stamp of approval from a top fashion magazine.

Porter’s Gin, created by Ben Iravani, 30, Josh Rennie, 31, and Alex Lawrence, 25, has graced the pages of Vogue magazine’s 100th anniversary edition.

The locally produced spirit was first launched in December and sold out its initial batch within a month.

So-called fashion bible Vogue featured the Aberdeen-brewed gin in its ‘hot list’ of must-have products in its June edition.

Ben said: “We only launched the company six months ago, and to be featured in one of the most famous fashion magazines in the world makes us really proud and humbled.”

The brand also caught the eye of Harvey Nichols buyer.

Ben added: “We’re very proud to have our gin stocked by the luxury lifestyle store as it gives us great exposure to the UK market, while the coverage in Vogue just proves what we have always said – Porter’s Gin is both delicious and fashionable.”

The trio received help from University of Aberdeen professor Andrew Porter, who the gin is named after.

Alex said: “Professor Porter sourced a rotary evaporator which allowed us to create the flavour we wanted through distilling alcohol with botanicals at very low temperatures.”

Ben added: “It’s been an incredible journey so far.”
