Summer is the time to slow down and relax over a G&T so there is no better time to sample the wares of new kids on the Scottish craft gin scene Persie Distillery.

Based at the foot of Glenshee, three aromatic Persie Gin Styles are distilled, bottled and labelled by hand in small batches.

Developed by Simon Fairclough, the gins have been created based on feedback from 4,000 gin lovers and lovingly distilled in ‘Phil the Still’ — a beautiful copper pot stand.

The resulting line-up is three gins: Zesty Citrus, Herby & Aromatic and Sweet and Nutty Old Tom.

Persie Gins use the sense of smell to unlock the palate — hence the tagline “We nose our gin” — and it’s a secret that Simon is more than happy to discuss with visitors to his dinky distillery in the former Persie Hotel.​
