Blackwoods and some of the foremost bartenders in the country are pairing up to launch two gins and a vodka. Ring the new gin alert bell!
The collaboration is a big one. It’s Blackwoods’ latest vintage since the 2012 release and a notable partnership at that. Leading bartenders are stepping in to make the 2017 vintage spirits reflect what’s trending in the drinks world.
The Blackwoods 2017 Vintage Dry Gin (40% and 60% abv respectively) and Blackwoods Premium Pure Grain Vodka are reformulations of Blackwoods core range.
At 60% abv, the limited edition Blackwoods Vintage Dry 60% is a kicker. The percentage is a wink to the latitude of the distillery in Shetland. It’s geared to professional mixologists for complex gin cocktails. Not to mention that the vintage’s botanicals vary each year. 2017 will feature the most recent harvest of handpicked Shetland botanicals.
For gin drinkers looking to branch out, keep a watch on the Blackwoods Botanical Vodka. Expect a super smooth vodka with local botanicals like meadowsweet, sea pink and marsh marigold.
On top of everything, Blackwoods are marking the occasion with brand new packaging and branding. Here at The Gin Kin do love a nice bit of packaging and a chance to work old bottles into home decor.
Its soda bottle shape and vintage faceting evokes the golden age of flappers and Gatsby. Borrowing from the roaring 20s and the golden age of cocktails, these gin bottles alone are a keeper.
Quite excitingly, the Blackwoods Vintage Dry Gins (rrp £22 for the 40% abv, £32 for the 60% abv) and Botanical Vodka (rrp £22) will be some of the first new gin out in 2018.
