Just when you thought gin would be slowing down for 2017, LoneWolf, BrewDog’s own spirits brand, just unveiled a new gin.
LoneWolf Gunpowder Gin is a spiced gin with a poppin’ 57% ABV.
The gin isn’t available yet either online or in BrewDog bars, but we can share its impressive recipe.
Gunpowder Gin’s wide ranging botanicals incorporates unusual pairings like Thai lemongrass and Scots pine needles.
Even more intriguing were LoneWolf’s tasting notes. They mention something about an “all-out star anise assault”:
“A first wave of oriental spice hits the palate from our pink, black and Szechuan peppercorns, closely followed and balanced by sweet citrus notes drawn from the peel of Paraguayan bitter oranges, Sicilian lemons and Mexican pink grapefruits, finished off with an all-out star anise assault.”
LoneWolf’s Single Malt Barrel-Aged Vodka was unveiled today alongside Gunpowder Gin. The vodka is a single barrel release, with “a singular vision – to be a whisky.” Made with 100% barley, the new vodka has aged for 11 months in charred American oak.
Here’s the whopping list of Gunpowder Gin’s 15 botanicals:
- Angelica root
- Orris root
- Dill seed
- Thai lemongrass
- Scots pine needles
- Fresh lemon peel
- Fresh grapefruit peel
- Bitter orange peel
