Known widely for their craft gin and beer range, it seems that Eden Mill is breaking new ground in 2018. The makers behind the popular Love Gin and Golf Gin, have launched their very first WHISKY range.
The launch marks the first malt offering from St Andrews since the closure of the Seggie Distillery in 1860 – or, nearly 160 years later.
The founders hope to build on St Andrews’ rich whisky history; Eden Mill’s Guardbridge home is actually built on the site of the old Seggie distillery.
It’s also recently been given a £4m expansion. The idea being that it will increase capacity and also serve as a base for new product development.
An initial launch of seven single malt whiskies called the Hip Flask Series will continue Eden Mill’s experimental approach to their product line.
They each pay particular emphasis on demonstrating different grains, processes, maturation techniques and woods.
Essentially, this series will highlight what you can do differently within the realm of single malt Scotch whisky.
The Seven Expressions
Each expression in the Hip Flask Series contains liquid matured in ‘honey casks’ that have been hand-selected from all around the world.
The casks only hold a small amount of liquid, providing an exciting way for whisky fans to gradually discover each individual taste.
A larger 70cl bottling of Eden Mill single malt whisky is expected to be released this summer with priority of purchase being given to those who buy a bottle from of one of the Hip Flask Series.
Each expression is available as a 20cl bottle priced at £25 each with a limited release of only 3,800 bottles in total.
The Hip Flask Series is available now at www.edenmill.com/singlemalt or at the distillery shop in St Andrews from Wednesday 25 April.
