Schweppes have issued a warning over fears bottle cap may pop off

Schweppes has issued a recall notice for some of its tonic waters.

The fizzy drinks firm has taken the decision to issue a warning for a number of their 1783 range in 600ml glass bottles.

Schweppes is concerned that bottle caps may have been incorrectly fitted to the bottles which may cause them to pop off unexpectedly.

Customers are advised to open them carefully, releasing the pressure with the bottle pointing away from the body at arm’s length.

People who have purchased any of the products can return the product or contact Schweppes customer careline.

A Schweppes notice said: “As a precautionary measure, we are asking all consumers who have  one of these bottles to open it carefully to release the pressure, ensuring the bottle is pointing away from the body when doing so.

“People can contact our customer careline on 0800 227711 to be reimbursed with a product voucher.

“No other Schweppes products are affected by this issue – it is a problem limited to some of the 600ml glass bottles of the 1783 range, which includes Crisp Tonic, Light Tonic, Cucumber, Floral and Salty Lemon flavours.

“This affects product with a best before end (bbe) date up to and including 31 March 2019.

“The bbe date can be found on the shoulder of the bottle.

“The safety and quality of our products is of paramount importance to us and we do all we can to ensure they reach people in perfect condition.

“We are sorry that on this occasion a small number of our products have not met our required standard and for any inconvenience this causes.”

The affected products are;
  • Schweppes 1783 Crisp Tonic Water
  • Schweppes 1783 Light Tonic Water
  • Schweppes 1783 Cucumber Tonic Water
  • Schweppes 1783 Floral Tonic Water
  • Schweppes 1783 Salty Lemon Tonic Water
