Persie Distillery has launched a Spaniel Gin to help abandoned dogs

Gin and dog lovers rejoice! You will be helping a Perthshire animal rescue charity the next time you have a hair of the dog thanks to a new partnership.

Persie Distillery in Glenshee has teamed up with Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society (PADS) to create a Spaniel-themed spirit – just in time for the festive season.

Like the breed, Spaniel Gin is spirited and spicy but very gentle. Using mace and cinnamon, the spicy gin has warm undertones, reflecting the spirited but gentle character associated with spaniels.

What better than enjoying your fave spirit while also doing a good deed? With every tipple £1 from each bottle sold will be sent to PADS to help provide care and shelter to abandoned dogs.

Persie distillery managing director Simon Fairclough at the Spaniel Gin launch with Daniel the spaniel and gin and dog fan Jennifer Elder from Forfar.

“When it came to picking a breed to name the gin after, any spaniel owner knows wild and spicy is a perfect description for them.”

Proceeds from both gins are donated to PADS, as well as an annual lump sum from the distillery.

PADS runs kennels at Forteviot, near Perth, which can house up to 30 dogs at a time. It also runs small hospital unit for dogs while they recover from treatment, as well as a mother and baby unit.

Alison Kennedy, director at PADS, said: “All of us at PADS are delighted to have Persie Gin as our sponsor. We feel that this is an ideal partnership between a thriving Perthshire business and one of the county’s best-known and best-loved charities.”
