An intrepid explorer from Hendrick’s Gin is undertaking an ambitious gin-fuelled Summer Solstice adventure.

The wonderfully named Dr Adam Silas Brian ‘FiFi’ Wolfryck Templeton is undertaking a Midsummer Gin Journey that will take him from distillery to dusk on June 21.

He aims to visit all six The Botanist bars in the UK before sunset on the Summer Solstice.

The gin journey starts at 5am in Hendrick’s Gin Palace distillery in South West Scotland and will encompass a 400 mile trip across the UK in just 15 hours.

He’ll be navigating between rail and road as he races on trains and taxis from Scotland to Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Cheltenham and finishing in Reading before the sun sets on the Summer Solstice.

Dr Templeton (known as the gin extraordinaire) will be taking his ‘case of curiosities’ to Botanist venues to celebrate the start of summer.

When the gin extraordinaire arrives at The Botanist Newcastle, he’ll unlock his case, sharing Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice gin and signalling a round of 21 free G&Ts for lucky customers.

His journey celebrates the mysterious blooms of the Summer Solstice, which inspired the creation of Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice Gin.

The limited-edition, deeply floral gin is the first release from master distiller Leslie Gracie’s Cabinet of Curiosities.

The gin extraordinaire will also be sharing the secrets of the gin’s secretive selection of floral essences and botanicals with The Botanist’s bartending experts.

Together they will create a limited-edition Midsummer Solstice G&T, which will only be available this summer.

Lauren Allen-Maher, group brand manager at The New World Trading Company, operator of The Botanist, comments: “The Midsummer Gin Journey unites the botanical inspiration of both Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice and The Botanist bars. With such an instinct for exploring, this exciting journey is the perfect way to celebrate the limited-edition availability of the gin.”
