Inspired by Jules Verne’s intrepid explorer Phileas Fogg, the establishment offers over 150 gins and many strange events and concoctions based on Fogg’s worldwide adventures.
The Gin Parlour in Covent Garden is said to be the old residence of Fogg’s Aunt and they have just announced the release of a new gin cocktail menu. And it’s every bit as weird and wonderful as you’d expect.
The claim to have found Aunt Gertrude’s medicinal box in the attic, and have subsequently “used her eclectic collection of elixirs, ointments and tinctures from around the world to create a new signature gin menu”.
The new signature cocktails include the Japanese-inspired ‘Physician’s Sencha-tional Ramen’. It contains Roku gin, Sawanotsuru sake, Kishinamien umeshu plum sake liqueur, fresh lemon juice, sakura sencha tea syrup, wasabi tincture and white chocolate noodles.
For a taste of India you could try ‘A Dose for Your Doshas’. This includes Star of Bombay gin, Tia Maria coffee liqueur, Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, cashew milk, pandan syrup, cardamom bitters, sparkling mango foam and sesame marshmallow.
These are some of the most inventive gin cocktail creations we’ve seen and we are fascinated and intrigued to try them and see whether they are as genius as they sound.
Some of the other cocktails on the menu are inspired by locations such as China, USA, Turkey, Italy and Greece. Phileas Fogg took 80 days to go round the world; you might need 80 visits here to try out everything on the extensive gin menu!
Mr Fogg’s Gin Parlour is open 7 days a week, located at 1 New Row, Covent Garden, London, WC2N 4EA. You can make a reservation on their website.
