This Gin Festival Is Serving Drinks from a Converted Camper Van

A popular dream or life ambition is to own a camper van and go travelling and see the world.

Well, there’s now a gin camper van that exceeds the wildest dreams, because not only can it hit the open road, but it also doubles as a fully stocked mobile gin bar.

She’s called Hettie 53 and she’s the centrepiece of a 3-day gin festival that starts Friday 19 July at the Star Inn, in the village of Inglestone, Essex.

The Peugeot van was built back in 1953 and looks vastly different from it’s modern counterparts. They really don’t make them like they used to!

The turquoise and cream colour scheme and 50’s style body shape is incredibly cute and the inside conversion to a bar area means it will be keeping festival revellers refreshed until Sunday.

The Star Inn has a regular gin club so you can be guaranteed the selection of gins will be varied. There’s also live music on every day of the festival to compliment the gin drinking.

We’ve featured mobile gin bars before but nothing quite of this ‘antiquity’. If you’re in the area it’s well worth going down to the Star Inn for a look at the gin camper van – and of course a gin from its bar!

And if you ask very nicely, who knows, maybe you could hire Hettie for your next big outdoor event.

The Star Inn Gin Festival runs from 19th-21st July. Check their website for more details.
