Waiheke island in New Zealand is normally known as the ‘Island of Wine’ due to the high number of vineyards, but gin might be trying to steal some of the limelight.
Batch Winery and The Botanical Distillery have teamed up to offer the three hour Gin and Tonic Experience which delves deep into the world of gin and allows spirit lovers to create their own signature concoction.
The experience begins with a mini-tour of the island before reaching Batch Winery in Onetangi. You will then get to grips with 12 botanicals which are used to create gin.
With instruction from The Botanical Distillery you will taste, chew, crunch and smell your way through plants and spices before fashioning two of your own signature gin and tonic creations.
Then it’s on to lunch, served by Batch Winery, which consists of three decadent tiers as part of its high tea. The chefs use fresh produce, free range and organic where possible, and add freshly picked herbs from their kitchen garden.
The meal will come alongside a glass of fizz and incredible views stretching from the Coromandel Peninsula to Auckland.
