This Is Set to Be the ‘Hottest’ Gin Trend This Christmas

Whether we want to admit it or not, Christmas is slowing moving closer on the horizon. Everyone has their favourite alcoholic drinks to sip on at Christmas, but is your favourite going to be on trend?

Data and insights gathered by Pernod Ricard UK suggests gin will be a popular festive tipple for the third year running. However, that’s hardly news, everyone is aware of the gin boom.

What is interesting is the data which suggests how we will drink our gin over the festive period.

Trends such as pink gin and orange gin are set to incorporated in a new way that suits the season.

Hot gin cocktails are predicted to be one of the ‘hottest’ gin trends this winter.

With the nights being much longer and the temperature colder we are certainly going to need something warming and hot winter gin cocktails sound perfect.

Hot gin cocktails don’t necessarily have to be hot in temperature, although some definitely will be.

They can be warming due to the botanicals used, such as spiced gin which can contain ingredients such as star anise, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and other festive faves.

One gin that could be popular is Boë Spiced Orange Gin Liqueur which incorporates the orange gin and hot gin cocktail angle if used as a cocktail base.

PRUK’s on-trade channel director, James Bremner said: “Hot alcoholic drinks top the polls of what those willing to try something new would choose and it’s really simple to get right.”

The Porn Star Martini, the UK’s number one cocktail, accounts for 15 per cent of mainstream cocktail volume so you can expect bars and cafes to make hot festive twists on the serve, including the Chocolate Orange Martini or a Chai Latte Martini.
