Wildcat Bramble Gin is a delicious, blackberry flavoured gin that is perfect for autumn/winter tipples.
A Little Bit of Background
Wildcat Bramble Gin is inspired by the folk tale surrounding the curse of the bramble bush. The story goes that the devil himself cursed the bramble bush in a fit of fury after he was pricked by its thorns.
Since that day, it is said that anyone who dares consume brambles after September 29 (the day the devil was pricked) will subject themselves to the curse.
Wildcat are inviting people throughout the UK to help them break this age-old curse, by serving up a delicious Bramble G&T this winter.
Wildcat’s base spirit contains 10 botanicals including:
- Liquorice root
- Angelica root
- Cat’s claw root
Their Bramble variety is also chock-a-block full of tasty blackberry goodness.
Wildcat Gin is beautifully presented and its tall and striking bottle design would stand out on any back bar. The blue and gold Wildcat logo, emblazoned on the front of their bottle, screams class and luxury.
For their spooky Bramble edition, the words “Knock Once, Knock Twice, Knock Thrice” have been embossed onto the glass itself bringing extra creepy Halloween vibes.
Our bottle of Wildcat Bramble Gin arrived in a gorgeous presentation box. Inside the box was a bottle of the gin, a miniature tonic, a branded Wildcat glass and a lovely branded compact mirror.
It also contained a small bag of black rock salt for warding away ghosts and evil spirits.
The Perfect Serve
Our signature serve for Wildcat Bramble is:
- 50ml Bramble Gin
- 150ml Premium tonic
- A handful of blackberries
- A slice of orange
However, it’s also very tasty in a glass of prosecco or in a gin cocktail, such as a Bramble.
On the Nose
Pop the stopper of this gin and you are greeted with the sweet scent of fresh berries. This gin smells exactly as I hoped it would: a full whack of fruity blackberries, with wee hints of juniper hiding underneath.
This gin is very drinkable either in a G&T or simply on its own over ice. Served neat, the sweet berry flavours really take over. The glorious flavours of blackberries, raspberries and hints of cherry flood the tongue.
In terms of mouthfeel, it’s almost liqueur-like – despite it’s 37.5% ABV. Nevertheless, unlike most gins that fall into this category, notes of juniper are still very much present.
An addition of tonic really opens up the flavour profiles of this gin. In addition to the rich berry flavours, subtle citrus and floral notes join the party. The old faithful piney juniper is always lurking in the background, reminding you that this is indeed a gin and not some other fruity spirit.
This truly is a delightful gin to drink. Not only is it tasty but also incredibly versatile – tantalising the taste-buds whether it’s mixed with tonic, lemonade, prosecco or served neat.
Wildcat Bramble is absolutely bursting with rich blackberry flavours, and anyone who is a fan of berry gins will fall in love with this.
