Twisted Gin – Premium is a tasty and versatile gin, packed full of citrus and spice flavours.
A Little Bit of Background
The Afterthought Spirits Company use a twist on a 17th Century distilling method to produce their gin. They believe that their use of traditional methods, coupled with a modern twist, results in deliciously smooth gins, with unique flavour profiles.
They take a base of key traditional botanicals and twist things up with some new and exciting flavours. This allows them to create gins that are truly reflective of the “old ways”, while bringing something new to the table.

The Bottle
I am a big fan of the Twisted Gin branding – this bottle is definitely a keeper for gin bottle craft.
The bottle itself is made of white porcelain, which in our opinion always looks classy. This must be a bespoke design, as the bottle has a “twist” wrought into it – as if someone has picked up the bottle and twisted it in their hands. It is then printed with their logo in gold, a British flag and a faux-wax stamp.
Twisted Gin Perfect Serve
The signature serve for this gin is:
- 50ml gin
- 150ml Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic
- Slice of orange
- A handful of ice
The Gin
On the Nose
Pop open the stopper of Twisted Gin and you are greeted by a wonderfully citrus aroma – which is no surprise considering this gin contains orange, tangerine and lime. Underneath the sweet citrus is an underlying spiciness and hints of juniper.
Straight
Sipped neat, this is a lovely smooth gin. It’s ever so slightly viscous and has a slightly oily mouthfeel from the oils in the citrus peels. Spiced notes of cardamom and coriander are also prominent, creating a lovely balance of citrus and spice, with a juniper finish.
With Mixer
With tonic, Twisted Gin has the characteristics of more citrusy Opihr. The flavours of orange and cardamom are definitely taking the lead here, and marry together beautifully in a G&T with Mediterranean tonic.
