With many of us feeling isolated in the wake of the coronovirus pandemic, a Scottish-based bar and gin festival have come together to offer a spot of light relief for gin lovers across the globe.

James from Edinburgh’s first gin bar, 56 North, and Jamie from Juniper Festival will be hosting the world’s largest virtual gin tasting event accessible, of course, completely from home.

The idea is to support both local gin distilleries and those missing their Friday night drinks in social company.

The event will take place on Friday 27 March at 5.30pm with the pair chatting gin ideas, providing drinks inspiration you can make at home, and generally helping you have fun with your bottle of gin.

To take part, the event asks you to purchase a local-based gin and have some mixers and ice to hand.

James Sutherland wrote: “Everyone is possibly going to have to stay at home due to the outbreak so this is the virtual ‘Friday night drinks’, only it’ll be with the entire online Scottish gin community.”

The virtual tasting will be held via Facebook Live, Instagram Live, Twitter and YouTube Live and can be accessed via 56 North’s website and social channels.

You can also find further information on the event’s Facebook page.
