To say 2020 hasn’t been great for business is an understatement but the tide is slowly turning and something exciting is happening in Cardiff.
A new 3-in-1 gin, bakery and cocktail bar, named Gin and Bake, is set to open soon and it sounds delightful. Good news is in short supply and this new venture is combining the joy of gin with the sweet scent of baking.
The people behind Coffi Co in Cardiff are launching the new gin and bakery bar next to their coffee shop in Cardiff Bay.
Taking over the site of Carluccio’s, the fusion of baking and booze will be in prime position, overlooking the oval basin. The outside area will be transformed into a secret gin garden.
The idea is that customers will sip on gin cocktails while watching the chefs prepare baked goods – with the option to get it while it’s hot, fresh out the oven.
We can only imagine the heavenly aroma as the scents of baking and gin intertwine in the air.
Alongside the live bakery whipping up a freshly baked cake selection and and a secret gin garden offering gin cocktails, Gin and Bake will be serving breakfast and afternoon teas.
Social distancing will be implemented in line with current guidelines and chefs will bake behind see-through screens so customers can monitor the progress of their pastries.
The current plan is for Gin and Bake to open 3 July, initially for takeaway gin and afternoon tea. When social distancing is relaxed groups will be able to book tables offering sharing platters and gin cocktails.
